a 501(c)(3) helping horses get a second chance at life

This holiday season we are so thankful for all of our Horse Angels. Because of your generosity, your genuine love, and your belief in our mission, we are able to continue to provide the care needed to rescue and rehabilitate horses in need.
Thank you for donating.

Providing rest for the weary and hope for the hopeless, Horse Angels Rescue, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that rescues and rehabilitates horses. Whether an owner surrender, horse rescue, horses for adoption, an auction intercept, a slaughter-bound auction rescue, or a case of neglect, the team at Horse Angels Rescue provides rescue, quarantine, veterinary and farrier care, rehabilitation, and placement services to hundreds of horses, all ages and breeds, thanks to the generosity of donors, volunteers, the many "angels" from around the country, and people like you, who help make it all possible.
We have TWO Facebook pages where more pictures and videos of available horses are posted as well. One is specifically for Standardbreds. Please join our Horse Angels Rescue page on Facebook here to see more available horses or join our Horse Angels 501 (c)(3) Facebook page here to see available Standardbreds.

"Twelve years ago, I went to the New Holland horse auction for the first time. I was overwhelmed by the atmosphere - the chaos, the excitement - I could feel the stress of the horses screaming for each other while being separated at the sale. It was gut wrenching.
The auctioneer chant was loud, a mix of gibberish and numbers, people in the crowd screaming and yelling, bidding on horses. There was a mix of horses and ponies, many formerly Amish, many of them emaciated, many of them old, their bodies and spirits worn out after a lifetime of service; others had injuries from shipping or being kicked while crammed in with strange horses, the one thing they all had in common was a look of defeat. My friend pointed out the kill buyers and the horse dealers and I was terrified as they bid, knowing the fate of the horses they bid on. I wanted to help. So, we saved a horse that day. I was trembling after bidding, overwhelmed by the adrenaline rush, but I couldn't stop thinking about how we had just changed the course of a horse's life. I was instantly hooked. I wanted to save more horses.
Fast forward, and one horse at a time, my dream to rescue and rehabilitate horses has become a reality. It hasn't been easy - horse rescue is not for the faint of heart - but it has been life changing for everyone involved. For the "un-adoptable," the misfits, the cripples, the old ones, I've created a sanctuary where they can live in a herd, like a family, and never experience hunger, neglect, abuse, or fear again. It's a space where they can know peace and serenity, and live a full life being taken care of, loved, and respected. For the horses who have a chance, we've rehabilitated and placed hundreds into loving, forever homes across the United States.
Over the years, people who adopted from me started asking how they can help support what I was doing, how they could save a horse, too. Soon more and more people started reaching out asking if I could find a rescue horse for them and, suddenly (over the course of years), a community, a village, had joined hands around me and together we were making a difference in the lives of hundreds of horses. Horse Angels Rescue 501 (c)(3) was created so people can have a transparent view into what I do and to expand our reach, collectively, to ensure horses lives are honored. My heart and life is truly devoted to these horses, and I invite you to come alongside me in my mission to save a horse no matter where they are."
Horse rescue is not all happy "after" pictures posted on social media. We wish it was but the reality of horse rescue is, oftentimes, devastatingly heartbreaking as seen in this video of some Horse Angel rescues.
